At Last!
From "The Divine David "Heals. 1999.
"We find people with problems - in Manchester - and absolve them."
I can't tell you how many efforts this took, I think it would have been easier to re enact myself. The Divine David Hoyle entertains the folks at Ivy Lodge to the strains of Amanda Lear's "Follow Me." AN appropriately Faustian theme.

Be you - but dont be a C**t.
This post covers my first experience of seeing live the phenomenon that was the Divine David, and that now is and always was David Hoyle.
Although aware of his shows at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, the first chance I had, like most, to see him for myself was the World of Wonder production The Divine David Presents, broadcast on national television at the beginning of 1999.
I caught a couple of episodes of the subsequent Divine David Heals shown in 2000, and then . . . .
. . . nada, nothing. To the extent that a commenter on this blog had to tell me that he wasn't actually dead but had recently reappeared under his own name David Hoyle. As I'm not very mobile, and he is based in Manchester, I grabbed the chance to see his London show Magazine the Reprint, having missed the first issue of Magazine in late 2006.
What a journey it has been! While Mr. Hoyle claimed that "if you want theatre - Mamma Mia is in the West End," it did get very hairy trying to attend, as this tiny gay venue packed in larger and larger, and increasingly arty, audiences over the weeks.
I mised the first three "issues," Celebrity, Cookery, and Crime & Punishment, and Immigration was the first I made it to.
To be continued . . . .
